Hard Hats & Safety Helmets for Site Work
Most of our safety helmets are made to EN397, the standard for industrial safety helmets, giving you protection against falling objects on site. We stock everything from budget visitor helmets to premium options like the MSA V-Gard range and Portwest Endurance helmets.
Vented hard hats keep you cooler on long shifts. If you work near electrical hazards, you’ll need a non-vented helmet with electrical insulation, like the Portwest Endurance Plus PS54, which is tested to EN 50365. Wheel ratchet helmets let you adjust the fit quickly.
Hard Hats with Visors, Chin Straps & Ear Defenders
If you’re working at height, a chin strap keeps your helmet in place. Choose a helmet with a built-in 4-point chin strap, like the Portwest Height Endurance PS53, or add the MSA Universal 4-Point Chin Strap to a compatible helmet.
For eye protection without separate glasses, the Portwest PW55 has a retractable visor, and the MSA V-Gard 930 comes with integrated eye protection. Helmet-mounted ear defenders from Portwest, MSA and Hellberg clip straight onto compatible helmets. For strimming and forestry work, the Portwest PW98 kit combines a helmet, mesh visor and ear defenders in one.
Bump Caps vs Hard Hats
Bump caps are made to EN812. They protect you from knocks and scrapes against fixed objects, like low beams, pipework or vehicle undersides. They are not a replacement for a hard hat and won’t protect you from falling objects.
They’re a popular choice for warehouses, mechanics and maintenance work, where a full helmet isn’t needed. Our best seller is the Beeswift Baseball Bump Cap, and we also stock the Portwest Hi Vis Long Peak PW79 and the AirTech PS69 with a micro peak.
